Nederlands Dutch Auschwitz Committee

The Dutch Auschwitz Committee

After the war there was lack of understanding in the Netherlands for the survivors of the concentration camps. People sought each other's support. This also occurred when witnesses were sought during the trials of Nazi war criminals. One of the results of this was the establishment of the Dutch Auschwitz Committee. In the years that followed, the Committee continued to fight for legally just treatment of the perpetrators as well as the victims of Jewish persecution. Ultimately, the NAC developed into a concept. For more than 50 years, the last Sunday in January is devoted to commemorating the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp. This commemoration is one of the Committee's core activities. Educating is the second one. The Committee invests a great deal of energy in educating young people. In this way, it hopes to achieve greater tolerance and respect for other population groups, especially in this target group.
