A resistance group under leadership of Joop and Willy Westerweel.
At the request of Mirjam Pinkhof-Waterman, a former teaching colleague of Joop Westerweel, the Westerweel group decided to help young people from the Youth Aliyah from various hakhshara institutions. Joop Westerweel met Joachim Simon in the Youth Aliyah centre Loosdrechtsche Rade. The resistance group that grew around the Westerweel couple arranged hiding places for many young adults. Small groups fled to Spain and Switzerland through Belgium and France. Approximately 60 young adults reached Spain safely.
